Midlands Recruitment Agency Win Big at Star-Studded Birmingham Awards in the Company of Rock Royalty
Local residents Amy and Daniel Court, founders of Blue Diamond Recruitment, were crowned Start-Up Business of the Year at the 10th annual Birmingham Awards, held on Friday night at a glittering ceremony that also honoured rock legend Ozzy Osbourne with a Lifetime Achievement Award, presented posthumously to his daughter Kelly Osbourne.
The couple’s emotional win stood out on a night that celebrated the very best of Birmingham’s business and community talent. Blue Diamond Recruitment triumphed in a fiercely competitive category, beating eleven other exceptional new businesses to take home the coveted title.
Founded just seven months ago, Blue Diamond Recruitment is a specialist recruitment agency dedicated to the construction and built environment sectors. Run by husband and wife team Amy and Daniel Court, their journey is both entrepreneurial and deeply personal.
The company’s name, Blue Diamond, pays tribute to Daniel’s late father, a passionate collector and restorer of Parker 51 pens who built a small business around his craft. Following his passing in July 2024, Amy and Daniel chose to honour his legacy of determination, creativity and integrity by carrying his name and spirit forward in their own venture.
In a further tribute, the couple have partnered with St Giles Hospice in Whittington, where Daniel’s father received compassionate care in his final days. As part of their mission to give back, Blue Diamond Recruitment donates a percentage of every placement to St Giles Hospice ensuring their success continues to support families facing life’s most difficult moments.
“Winning this award means so much to us,” said Amy Court. “Blue Diamond isn’t just our business it’s a reflection of everything we believe in: hard work, passion and giving something back to our community.”
Daniel Court added, “To win this award after only seven months in business and to do so on the same night that Kelly Osbourne accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award for her Father, Ozzy, is something we’ll never forget. It was a night full of emotion and pride, one we’ll carry with us forever.”
The Birmingham Awards 2025 celebrated its tenth anniversary this year, recognising inspiring individuals and businesses across the region. It proved to be one of its most memorable evenings yet, with heartfelt tributes to Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne, making the Courts’ victory even more special.
“We’d like to dedicate this award to Dan’s dad,” the couple shared. “He always encouraged us to follow our dreams and reminded us that life is too short not to try. This win is for him.”
